Wow! Been a while since I updated eh?

Just wanted to let you guys know what I’ll be up to this weekend…

It’s that time of year again! MCM Expo is going to descend on the Excel Centre in London’s docklands for two and a half days of insanity! I’m really looking forward to it this year, especially because (all being well) I should have copies of the new book Volume 1: A Quiche Too Far for sale for the first time anywhere outside of Indiegogo!

We blew past the $800 target with hours to spare so thanks to each and every one of you that chipped in or helped to spread the word… It’s a great feeling knowing that you guys want this thing to happen as much as I do.

So yeah, come by table I11 in the comicsvillage at the weekend to say hi to me. I’ll have copies of the new book along with all the issues that’ve been published so far including Dead End Friends; the epic small press crossover event which has never been sold outside of Leeds Thought Bubble!

After the show I’ll sort out getting volume one into the shop so you can bag a copy if you’ve missed out so far.

My con season starts tomorrow! Wooooooo!

So the deal is this…

The Big News!

Ok so this particular news is important enough to warrant it’s own blog post. I know it’s been a bit quiet round here of late and that’s, in part, due to me trying to get a headstart on creating something… Well now’s your change to help me make this thing a reality!

Launching today is the official campaign to fund  The Mighty Jambo: Volume 1 at IndieGoGo!

And the winner is…

…Superstar!

This reality star has her own hit TV show which gives the public an insight into her celebrity life. However, over exposure has taken it’s toll and recently the public seems to be falling out of love with the super powered party girl. Her agent has suggested she needs a new “hook” to bring back her wayward audience and Superstar thinks capturing the metahuman fugitive Cheezar is exactly what’s needed to get her back in the spotlight… How hard can it be?

Thanks to everyone who voted over on the facebook page to decide that Superstar will be showing up in the next issue. But don’t worry… Bulldog, Frogman, Snakespitter and Venus & Mars are bound to turn up sooner or later!

Oh shit it’s 2012!

No I don’t believe in that whole “The Mayan’s predicted the world would end in 2012″ thing, I reckon they just thought “that’s a nice round figure to end this calendar on… if we’re still about we can fix it later!”

But anyway that’s not what this post’s supposed to be about… I just wanted to let you guys know what’s going on. I’m not going to whine on and on but some of you who follow my Twitter will know that the second half of 2011 was pretty rough for me and I’ve had a pretty crap start to 2012 if I’m honest. I’ve either been ill or stressed out from the day job; neither of which are ideal for getting any comicking done!

The idea was for me to quietly get on with the next issue while you guys enjoyed the crossover section of Dead End Friends so there wouldn’t be this horrible lull in between issues like there was last year… Of course me actually planning something for once meant that something had to go wrong instead so my tablet laptop died and took everything I’d done in a couple of months with it.

As it stands I have about a third of “Times Like These” written and I’ve started on inking the first page but the main thing I’m working on right now is tweaking “A Quiche Too Far” so I can put it together in a book for you guys to pick up in my new shop. I’ve just had a great weekend in Cornwall with the amazing Beth Walls for our sixth anniversary which has left me feeling refreshed and inspired to get cracking!

So yeah, I guess what I’m saying is bare with me… there’s new stuff on the way and you’re gonna love it, I promise!

In case of emergency break glass

Ok, so I know a lot of you will be disapointed with this post and to be honest, I’d rather not be writing it.

The point is I don’t want to put out anything other than my best work into this comic, and if I tried to carry on right now I’d end up chained to my tablet every hour I’m not at the dayjob and I know my work would suffer as a result. Hence taking the hard decision to go on hiatus.

This is by no means the end (I’m still really excited about where the story is headed) but you guys’re gonna have to hang on for a bit while I sort my life out… I’ll be at Thought Bubble in November (sharing a table with the amazing Paul Fryer) with issue #6 for sale and as the image suggests, the website will be updating again in December.

Ok so I’m just gonna say thanks again to everyone who took part in this issue, everyone who’s retweeded a post, or even just said something nice to me about the idea… the reception this storyline’s got has been incredible!

Who knows? Maybe it helped introduce you to some new comics that you wouldn’t otherwise have read? Maybe even this one!

The printed issue will be available for sale at this years Thought Bubble in Leeds (get excited!)
