59. Triggering Memories

So as a late birthday present I bought myself (with money from my grandad) Chrono Trigger for the DS. I wasn’t quite as young as I appear in this comic when I first played it but it does have a special place in my heart. For some reason this game ticks all the boxes for me, it has a great storyline with good characters and fun gameplay. As regular visitors to the site will know I’m a big Final Fantasy fan and this game is right up there with the best of that series despite being quite a departure from it. The DS version doesn’t really have much that’s new as far as I can tell, naturally there’s the touch screen business and the dual screens mean that the display is a bit less cluttered, it’s got the Dragon Ball esque videos which came with the playstation version (I think?) on there as well but it doesn’t need any bells and whistles because it’s such a solid game in the first place!

But enough of my gushing, I have apologies to make! Yet again I’ve been slipping over at Jambo, missing updates etc. This is because I’m working on an anthology piece which will be revealed when it’s published but as you can imagine, drawing a full colour page of superhero stuff takes a lot of time and effort, which means when I’ve got another project as well as my ongoing job hunt I often don’t have that time to dedicate to it. I don’t like missing updates but I’ve been drawing Jambo for going on seven years now and I have so much love for the project (seriously this thing is like my kid) I don’t want to be half-arsed about it. Basically I’m just asking you guys to bare with me for now!

I’m not gonna get another Jambo up this week but I’ll be back here on Monday!

Reliving My Childhood…

His name is Jake Thackray and he should be a legend! My dad used to play his tapes in the car when we went on long journeys as a kid (somewhat censored but still superb) of course I didn’t understand most of it but I stumbled across a documentary about the fella on the bbc (not on the iPlayer cos it’s not aging celebrities making idiots of themselves trying to dance) and was reminded about how much I enjoyed his work and how criminal it is that more people don’t know who he is!

So to try and spread the word in my own little way here is “Brother Gorilla” by Jake Thackray, who was a shy retiring genius of a man who damn well should be a national institution; he died in 2002 at the age of 64.

Jake Thackray - “Brother Gorilla”

How’m I doing so far?

One thing I’ve not been able to try out yet on this thing is what happens when people comment, I think I’ve got this site running ok and I know the comics make me laugh (some of them) but I’d like to know what you think!

The great faceless online masses have yet to let me know either way! I can check the stats all I like but I’d still like a bit of feedback! So now I’m changing the rules, no more having to enter names or email addresses, or registering! Feel free to heckle all you like safe in your anonimity! I can always delete the abuse later if I find it all too much to bare!

It’s the only way I’ll learn!

You could always email me if you’d rather not make your thoughts public knowlege

Hmm… not a bad start I guess!

Still working on customising this page (bit generic isn’t it?) but I’m glad I’ve got my archive posted. Which took longer than I’d have liked but hey- these things always do!

Anyway bare with me… I promise great things! Well… different more than great… well….

Stay tuned!
